Pacman Ghosts T-Shirt
February 10, 2010
Did you grow up on 8-bit classics like Pacman, Galaga and Space Invaders? Or have you experienced these games recently via re-release on modern consoles? Either way, there’s something about those little 8-bit video game characters that make for great t-shirts. Exhibit one: the Pacman Ghosts T-Shirt from ByteLove.
Maybe it’s because they’ve become symbols of geek pop culture, burned into a collective psyche. Maybe they remind us of a simpler time, when games were about co-ordination, not just fancy graphics? Or maybe it’s because they’re just so damn cute, look at those little ghosts with their bright colors and big eyes! Don’t be fooled though, you better kill (eat) them before they kill you!
This is just one retro game inspired design from Bytelove. Checkout their site for many more Mario, Space Invaders, Zelda and NES inspired t-shirts – as well as a range of more modern game and general geeky fashion goodness!

Vintage Monster Movie Poster T-Shirts
January 8, 2010
This weeks horror theme continues with these Monster Movie Poster T-Shirts, which are Vector art recreations of Vintage movie posters. The collection include designs inspired by the movies Dracula, Frankenstein, Bride of Frankenstein, The Mummy, as well as the two we feature below in this review.
The Wolf Man T-Shirt is a recreation of a promotional poster for the film ‘The Wolf Man’ – a classic 1941 monster film which has since had a great deal of influence on Hollywood’s depictions of the legend of the werewolf.
The Creature from the Black Lagoon T-Shirt is a recreation of a promotional poster for the film, a classic 1954 monster movie originally filmed and released in 3-D. It is considered a classic of the 1950s, and generated two sequels.
The designs really pop while staying true to the artwork of the time with classic fonts and simple but striking use of color.

Classic Space Invaders T-Shirt
December 23, 2009
Sadly this is the last design of our ‘3 Space Invaders Designs in 3 days’ series. Here it is, checkout the Classic Space Invaders T-Shirt from Nerdy Shirts. On first glance it may just look like a giant space invader, which is awesome in its own right, but on closer inspection that giant space invader is made-up of hundreds of small 8-bit space invaders! (wtf, how many times can I write ’space invaders’ in one post?).
BTW did you notice the model’s face in this picture? She looks like she’s all like, dude are you seriously staring at my chest? And I’m all like, no, no way, I was appreciating your t-t-t t-shirt, I swear! (runs).

Space Invaders Retro T-Shirt
December 21, 2009
Welcome to the first t-shirt review of our ‘3 Space Invaders Designs in 3 days’ series. First up we have this retro screenshot Space Invaders tee from T-Shirt Bordello. We just had to start with this one, anyone who’s spent too much time playing this classic game will dig being able to wear it in all its 8-bit glory. Represent old school gaming, when games weren’t all about pretty graphics, but skill and frustrating difficulty!
Every time I think of Space Invaders I’m reminded of that awesome Futurama Episode and the quotes from the commander of the space invaders, Lrrr.
First when directing the invaders, “Increase speed, drop down a level, reverse direction.”
And when they have landed he taunts the humans with, “Instead of shooting where I was, you should have shot at where I was going to be!” – so true, lol! Anyway, back to the tee!
Details:
Colors: Black
Sizes: Small, Medium, Large, XL, XXL, XXXL
Price: From only $14.99!
It’s made of 100% cotton, it fits great and looks good on. You can tell the t-shirt is quality and so is the print. Join the resistance, or just reminisce of a simpler time, get your Space Invaders T-Shirt here.
Home Sweet Home T-Shirt by Robit Studios
October 2, 2009
Anyone that grew up in 80’s should instantly recognize the ghastly looking castle featured on this tee, hell you may have even owned the play-set. Yes, it’s none other than Castle Greyskull, with ‘Home Sweet Home’ over the entrance (that makes me lol).
Call it pop culture, call it 80’s retro, call it what you will, I don’t care coz it’s freakin’ awesome.
This t-shirt is made by talented lads at Robit Studios, (@robit_studios on Twitter).
In their own words; “…dedicated to producing unique, hand-printed clothing. We gear our product toward anyone that appreciates the small businesses and creative minds, or the efforts of individuals against careless corporations that pander to the lowest common denominator.” Rock on.
And if you are ethically minded, their shirts are all printed by hand using water-based, environmentally- friendly, inks and are printed on sweat-shop free American Apparel shirts.
The Particulars:
At the time of this review this tee is available at a very affordable price of $21.00.
It’s available in sizes S, M, L, XL and 2XL. The material is light and soft (read:comfortable) and the print work is faultless – of course this particular print has a vintage look to it.
