Today we feature two awesome tees from Alphabet Arm Design, a Boston-based, award-winning, full service design studio.
Background
It’s not often we get to feature t-shirts from fully fledged design studios, they’re typically too busy with client work, or too self-important to design shirts. So, why did Alphabet Arm get into selling tees? Well, for one, they have a long history of designing promotional shirts for clients, friends of the studio, and particularly for themselves! They’ve designed merch for Gnarls Barkley, Dave Matthews Band, Counting Crows, The Dresden Dolls and many other bands and musicians. It wasn’t long till the guys started receiving requests from people asking where they could buy their designs. So, bowing to popular demand, they’ve made a number of designs available for sale via their very own Big Cartel store.
Now, let’s take a look at some of their handiwork…
The Golden Rule T-Shirt
The Golden Rule t-shirt is the latest design available from Alphabet Arm. It features two otters drawn in a really cute illustrative style with text reading, ‘Do unto Otters as you would have them do unto you.‘ I don’t know about you, but I just want to pick the little guys up and give them a big, squishy hug to within a second of their lives! But, I guess I wouldn’t want them doing that unto me…
It’s available on a brown or aqua blue tee. If you prefer your tees with a bit of ‘pop’ to them, I’d suggest going with the aqua. The brown version also looks great, but it’s much more of a subtle contrast.

Adventures in Graphic Design T-Shirt
The Adventures in Graphic Design t-shirt features a vintage styled, sci-fi ray gun, except this gun looks like it’ set to blast lame graphic design and replace them with awesomeness!
There is actually quite a lot going on with this design, there’s the obvious design with ray gun settings (including a plethora of snobby typographic tirades), but then there’s an entire extra dimension by way of an overprint in transparent yellow. There’s so much detail in the yellow, both text and images, that you’ll probably notice something new each time you wear it.

I really like what I”ve seen so far from Alphabet Arm Design, it was actually quite difficult to narrow down which tees to feature. There’s quite a lot of variation in the designs in terms of style and subject, as you can see from the two tees we’ve featured in this post. It seems like Alphabet Arm like to mix it up and have a bit of fun with their designs, and I’m all for that. Make sure you checkout their entire range (currently 12) available in their online store.
