Bill Murray has a well earned reputation for being extremely difficult to track down, even by big movie studios. Consequently he’s missed out on roles in films such as Monsters Inc, Charlie And The Chocolate Factory and Who Framed Roger Rabbit.
During filming of Groundhog Day, the studio requested Bill hire an assistant, to act as a buffer between him and the studio (he also has a reputation for mood swings and can be hard to work with.) Bill hired a deaf mute who could only communicate in Native American sign language.
Bill Murray and Hunter S Thompson created a game called shotgun golf. It involved golf, but with more shotguns. It never caught on.
Bill was considered for the roles of both Han Solo and Batman. I don’t think I’m alone when I say I’m glad he didn’t score those roles.
